Title: Icons
Fandom: Honor Harrington
Rating: PG
Length: 5 icons
Characters: Honor, Mike, Eloise & Elizabeth.
Content notes: Background images are from the covers for the french editions of the novels. Quotes are lines that caught me from the relevant novel - I'll make this a complete set eventually, I think.
Summary: My normal response to wanting icons for something used to be to find the base images and then beg my flist, but I thought I'd give making them myself a go again.

Fandom: Honor Harrington Series - David Weber
Rating: PG
Length: ~ 350 words
Characters: Michelle Henke
Content notes: Part of an AU tentatively titled Beowulf's Honor, Manticore's Shame. This pair of drabbles currently bracket this section. Basic premise of the AU is that Honor was court-martialled for an incident prior to the first novel in the series (there's a prequel short story called "Let's Dance" where she allies herself with a group considered terrorists by most of the galaxy to liberate a lot of slaves. In the short story, several high powered people burn a lot of favours to keep her in the Navy. In this AU, they couldn't for various reasons. Honor's mother is from a very high ranking family on Beowulf, and they do approve of what she did, so they offer her refuge - and something to do).
Summary: Communicating with Honor is a bit risky for Mike these days.

Content notes: Spoilers through "A Rising Thunder". Allusions to a canon sexual assault becoming something worse. One day I might come back to this and expand it further, but for now it's done, lest it eat my brains.
Summary: 20 nightmares where Honor dies instead.
She wakes with a gasp, scrambling out of the latest nightmare to add itself to the cycle (almost wishing that Hamish was there). She used to think that everyone's nightmares worked the way hers did; that they sometimes felt more real than real life - she's lost count of how many times she's died …
… at least in her head. And she never recognises the voice telling her to do it over.

Content notes: Pre-Lorne/Cadman. Um Atlantis/Sheppard? *ducks* I caught two separate episodes of SGA, and suddenly this seemed like a good idea? AU, because I don't know the canon very well, but it feels right. I started writing with prompt #1, but I think I've gone a bit far afield ...

Rating: PG-13
Length: ~ 900 words
Content notes: Innocence takes place pre-series (the raid in Caismir is covered in the short story "Let's Dance" which is part of the "In the Fire Forged" anthology). Mentor covers events in "The Honor of the Queen". Lover spoils some events through "Field of Dishonor". Privacy is not specific, but is definitely post "In Enemy Hands" and Command probably goes all the way through to "A Rising Thunder". Trigger warning(s) - Mentor contains references to a canon incident involving the rape of PoWs and Lover contains a reference to the attempted rape of Honor by Pavel Young.
Summary: Duty and her Honor have stolen many things from Honor Harrington. Here are five of them that she regrets losing - in some cases despite of herself.
Fandom: Honor Harrington Series - David Weber
Rating: PG-13
Length: ~700 words
Content notes: Might be mildly AU, but I think I kept everyone in character! Takes places during Echoes of Honor; for anyone who doesn't know the canon, the enemy faked the lead character's execution and broadcast it the rest of the universe. Abigail first appears in Ashes of Victory as anything other than a name, but she had some footwork to do to get to where she is then, so I appropriated her for this.
Summary: Apparently there are five stages to grief; not everyone experiences all of them. Five snapshots ...
Denial - Hamish Alexander
( If he accepted that she was dead, then there were other things he had to accept, but for now he was in denial. )
Anger - Hamish Alexander, on Grayson's reaction
( The order had been 'No Mercy!' rather than 'No Quarter!' )
Bargaining - Abigail Hearns (the first Grayson midshipwoman)
( Picking up that torch was the least her father could allow her to do. )
Depression - Samantha, Nimitz's mate.
( She wanted to follow her mate into the dark - like so many of the People did. )
Acceptance - Michelle Henke
( The price duty demands. )
Fandom: Honor Harrington Series - David Weber
Rating: PG
Length: ~200 words
Content notes: AU, depending on your perspective. Empathy and prescience are both hinted at as very rare, but existing in the canon universe. Foreshadowing ... hints at events all the way through "A Rising Thunder" if you squint hard enough.
Summary: ( The dreams were a family secret. He'd certainly never expected to dream one of them, even after he found himself volunteering for Her service. She'd completed his brother's duty for him. He'd die trying to ensure She completed what she considered Her's. )
