Content notes: ....Okay, this list is gonna be a long one. Most chiefly of all, this has spoilers for Episode 1 of Dexter: Original Sin as this is a loose rewrite of said episode. Also has turbo spoilers for Dexter: New Blood due to the first bit. Lesser but still important warnings are for the depiction of killings (one animal, a few humans), an attempted assault and drugging, an attempted poisoning and a good heaping of Dexter-typical things. Author notes: So... I got inspired weirdly enough to write this after my roommate sat down and watched the new Dexter prequel TV show. Aka the Dark Debra Swap AU prolly nobody asked for. Because I am kinda skittish despite being a Dexter viewer for a long time, I only rewrote the first ep of Original Sin with the AU premise. I.. uh.. hope this is good.
Also sidenote this was SUPPOSED to have formatting in the story itself but DW was being a jerk so consider this the No-Italics Cut.
Summary: Debra Morgan, in the middle of almost dying, recounts her early life and first kill, in a world where Dexter got help in time.
