Willow has never had anything quite like this in her life before, it’s all so new, and so wonderful, and it’s making her feel like the worst person ever, because she should know what she wants, and she’s not sure she does.

For years, Xander was her unrequited crush, always her friend and yet still just out of reach. He saw her as a buddy, not as a girl, but now that he’s dating Cordelia, and Willow has a boyfriend, suddenly it’s like he can see everything about her that he never noticed before, and it’s all she ever wanted, but it’s wrong. They’re both wrong!

All the sneaky kissing and touching feels so good when it’s happening, but afterwards all she can feel is guilt, and she thinks it’s the same for Xander. They both know they shouldn’t be doing any of it, they’re cheating on the people they’re supposed to be dating, so why can’t they stop? Willow wants to, but at the same time she doesn’t, because it’s Xander, and after all the years of wanting him she’s finally sort of got him, and anyway, there’s a kind of thrill to sneaking around… It shouldn’t feel as exciting as it does.

Just when Willow thinks she feels as bad about the situation as she possibly can, Oz somehow makes her feel even worse by doing the sweetest thing imaginable, giving her a surprise gift. It’s nothing expensive, just a little witch Pez dispenser, but it’s so cute, so thoughtful, so amazing, that she falls a little more in love with him. And then the guilt presses down on her, and she wants to cry, confess, beg Oz to forgive her, but she doesn’t dare, because then he might never speak to her again, and she can’t imagine anything worse than that.

The thing with Xander has to stop. It should never have started, and she’s not even sure now exactly how or when it did. They need to end it though, before it goes any further, because Oz and Cordelia don’t deserve to be cheated on. Well, maybe Cordy does, but not Oz.

She doesn’t deserve him, he’s too good for her, kind, caring, and patient, everything she could ever want in a boyfriend. So why is she cheating on him with her old crush?

“Xander’s bad for me, like a drug. I have to quit him.”

The End
