Two signatures on a piece of paper, and that, with the vows and exchange of rings, was that. Married. Ryo found he couldn’t stop smiling, which was fine, because Dee was grinning so wide it must surely hurt.

“Husband and husband,” Dee said, wrapping his arm around the man who was as completely his as he ever could be. “How does it feel?”

“We only signed the register a minute ago, Dee! That’s hardly enough time to take a breath! But… Happy, that’s how I feel. It’s a bit unreal, I still keep expecting to wake up any second and find it was just a dream, but… If it IS a dream, I don’t ever want to wake up.”

“Yeah, me too. You know what we should do now?”

Ryo knew his lover, his husband, well enough by now to make an educated guess. And besides…

“It’s our wedding night. We should go back to the hotel and celebrate.”

“In the grand tradition of wedding nights everywhere! It’s the only one we’ll ever have, so we gotta make the most of it, right?” Arm still around his baby, the two men left the wedding chapel, thanking the strangers they’d pulled in as witnesses, before flagging down a taxi.

“One wedding night, but thousands of nights to come as a married couple,” Ryo pointed out.

Dee snickered at the unintentional double entendre. “You might want to rephrase that, babe.”

“What?” Ryo reviewed his last words and blushed. “I didn’t mean it like that, hornball!”

“Maybe not, but it’s appropriate, ‘cause it’s true, and I intend to hold ya to that promise, and to our vows. You and me, we’re forever. Not that we weren’t before, but now we got the paper to prove it. Love you, baby.”
