Kathryn was getting frustrated by a task that could normally be completed quickly and had enough of fighting it. She decided to take a break, heading for Chakotay’s quarters where she was going to take a short nap before going back on shift.

Using the override codes she entered the darkened living space, carefully removing her boots and uniform jacket before making her way to the bedroom. She watched him for a moment, noticing that he seemed to be restless which she concluded was one of the side effects of Ankaran Flu that had swept through the ship, taking out almost two thirds of the crew and she was glad she’d not yet succumbed to the virus.

Sensing her presence, keeping his eyes closed, “Busy?” he enquired, voice heavy with sleep.

Getting under the covers she let out a contented sigh, quietly asking the computer to wake her in an hour. No sooner had she got settled Chakotay rolled towards her, putting his arms around her pulling her close and she realised there was no better feeling than laying together like this.

“Needed a break from constant twenty hour days.”

“Close your eyes, you forget you need to rest too.”
