Buffy stared into the night with Spike sitting beside her on the porch steps. “So what do you know about finances?” she blurted out.
He looked puzzled. “I know how to make some quick bucks, if that’s what you mean.”
“Legally?” she asked.
“Hard to tell. Your law doesn’t really apply to the demon world, does it?”
“Never mind,” she sighed. “I assume you don’t know much about plumbing, either.”
Spike’s frown deepened. “’Fraid not. You need money to pay a plumber?”
“Among other things. Pipes in the basement are leaking, debts have piled up,” she said. “Welcome back, Buffy.”
