Title: The Need for Speed
Fandom: MCU
Rating: General
Length: 359 words
Summary: Steve didn't tell anyone about all those tickets, especially not Tony.

Steve walked into the conference room and saw Tony talking on his phone. He sat down and opened the folder in front of him, reading the notes he’d typed on their last mission. Everyone else used computers and phones but he still typed the reports. Granted, he did type on the computer then printed them on paper. Nick Fury insisted they be sent on paper to his office, so there was that.

“Thanks, Agent Hill. I’ll check on that,” Tony said before he got off the phone. He rang off and placed his phone on the table and looked at Steve. “That was Maruia Hill. She was calling to tell me we have a small legal issue.”

Steve couldn’t think of anything the Avengers had done lately that would get them into legal trouble. He shook his head, indicating that he had no idea what Tony was talking about and then he did remember something. He’d gotten a few speeding tickets while out riding his motorcycle.

“Steve Rogers, you have fourteen speeding tickets in New York alone, not to mention the five you have in DC, the three in Virginia, and one down in North Carolina. If you were not Captain America, you would have NO driving license at all. You might even be in some county lockup somewhere.”

Steve blushed. “I meant to tell you about those.”

“You do realize that you can’t drive on American roads like you’re still chasing Red Skull?” Tony was trying hard to sound angry, but this was so funny. He bet Nick Fury was about to blow a gasket.

“I – to be fair, the wind feels so good.”

Tony laughed. “Can you imagine Nick Fury’s face when he saw all those tickets?”

Steve suppressed a grin, but he nodded.

“I’m thinking this. I’d love to feel that freedom, too, so how about taking me for a ride? What’s one more ticket in the grand scheme of things?”

Half an hour later, they were riding down the highway, outside the city and going at least twenty miles per hour over the speed limit. Tony thought that it felt almost as thrilling as flying.
