Summary: A Havenite POV from my Haven Wins AU, Risen From Ruins (to Victory), telling of the events on Haven.

We thought the war would be like the last system absorbing wars we'd started. A sprint, where we showed up with superior hardware, or at least more of it, and won quickly. We thought it’d be a short victorious war. Oh, how wrong we were.

Instead it was a marathon, but one we could never finish. It kept going. The Manties had better tech than we thought, and we rarely won engagements. Now, it’s eighteen years later. The Manties rolled out a sadly game-changing tech, in the form of their super-missiles, and hit us hard. But, we still had a card left to play. And, by a miracle, we won. I won’t call it anything less than a miracle, because, despite the losses at Jouett, we were very lucky to be able to force the Star Empire’s surrender before Eighth Fleet came home.

The victory press conference, scheduled for eighteen years ago, and constantly delayed, was last night. We haven’t had one of those since Operation Gobi’s success, and nothing quite on the scale of a star nation’s surrender since 1883, when we took over Trevor’s Star. Before that, we had one of those celebrations every year or two. Millions of us on Haven (and more Havenites will watch it later, when it gets to them) watched as some of the senior Manticorian officers that Admiral Tourville had captured were briefly shown, before listening to Admiral Foraker’s speech. Today, we celebrate the Legislaturalists’s final triumph. Today we celebrate the Republic of Haven’s greatest triumph. We finally conquered Manticore. And, we did it before Victory Day!
