Thinking about it, Buffy can’t really blame her mom for being a bit confused. A few months ago, Buffy herself had invited Spike into her house; her mom has obviously taken her cue from that. She knows nothing about Buffy’s history with the bleached-blond vampire, has no idea how dangerous he is. They’ll have to have a talk about that later, and Buffy will have to re-do that whole uninviting ritual, because she can’t have Spike just walking into her home whenever he pleases.

But there’s no time for any of that right now, no time to explain which is the bad vampire and which is the good one, and honestly, it’s not surprising her mom is freaking out at Angel’s presence. He didn’t make the best impression the last time the two of them met, although technically that had been Angelus and not Angel. Same body, different person, which is another thing Buffy will have to explain, and boy is she NOT looking forward to that.

Buffy has other priorities at the moment though; Willow and Xander are missing, Spike has them hidden somewhere, and Buffy is going to find out where if she has to beat the location out of Spike with her bare hands. Or she’ll let Angel do it; the last thing she needs is another broken fingernail. She’s just gotten them looking nice.

“Angel, why don’t you come on in?”

And now Buffy’s mom is panicking, and that kinda smarts, because you’d think she’d trust her own daughter to know whether someone’s a threat or not. Buffy is officially insulted, but she’ll ignore that for the moment; she can’t afford to let herself get distracted, not when her friends’ lives are at stake.

Spike can’t be trusted, but right now he holds all the cards.
