Peter wasn't one who forgave and forgot. He might forgive, but he never forgot. Forgetting the bad acts committed by someone was just asking to be abused again. Peter knew the words that had come from Scott's mouth time and time again. He had let them wash over him because he would never leave his nephew alone in the clutches of that idiot. It was not the best way to go about things, but it was the way he was built.

"This time, they've gone way too far...," Peter said as he touched the cool, still hand that was out of the blanket. He tucked the hand back in and made sure that the monitor was still going strong. Despite it all, Stiles' vitals were good.

"Peter," Derek said.

"No, this is the end of it. I don't care what excuses McCall has; I will not allow this to go about like it is. You are to stay here." Peter pushed all of his will into the order, and he felt it. He felt the connection to Derek he had through their shared blood fully strengthen into something more.

Derek's eyes flashed blue, and Peter felt his own do it in return. He spun on his heel and headed out. There was a reckoning to be had.

Noah wasn't one to think about the future too much. He made short-term plans beyond the fact that one day he wanted to retire. He knew what happened to Stiles had something to do with Scott McCall, and Noah thought that Scott was still a good kid despite everything. They had been dealing with the supernatural in Beacon Hills for ten years. Ten years of Stiles trying his hardest to protect everyone and then to find himself barred from seeing his son because the person who held his medical power of attorney and living will bar everyone from seeing Stiles after he had gotten out of surgery.

"Sheriff," Parrish said as he opened the door.

Noah looked up at the man in the doorway behind Parrish. No one had seen Peter Hale in three years. Though, Noah was pretty sure that Stiles had known where he was the entire time.

"I assume you are the person who barred me from seeing my son?"

"Something like that. Your name has been added to the allowed list along with Deputy Parrish here. Stiles will make a full recovery, but Sheriff, I am not sure that this town will." Peter tossed a file down on the table.

"What is this?"

"This is the file that I made up three weeks ago when Stiles asked me about the witch coven that came into town that Scott was working on a treaty with to allow them to tap into the Nemeton for a yearly ceremony, and they would help protect the town."

"They were lying?"

"Oh, no. They were not. They are a very calm and collected group of women who just want a safe place to stay for a little while before moving on. The issue is that Scott betrayed them." Peter waved at the file, came into the room, and sat down.

Noah opened the file. The top was a list of all of the members of the coven. There were seven of them, just like Stiles had told him.

It was the page under that showed the crimes that a few of them had committed were listed. Committed, tried, and found not guilty because they had killed the men who were abusing them. They had been the ones that had fought back and ended up killing their abuser.

"How do you feel?" Peter asked.

"I have a headache, but other than that, fine. Why?"

Peter looked at the doorway, and a woman stepped inside.

Noah knew that he knew her from somewhere. He just wasn't sure where.

"That's because of the magic that was broken. The coven broke the spell on Stiles and a few others, and when McCall found out, he attacked. he tried to kill the coven and Stiles to make sure his crimes were covered up."

The woman stood behind Peter, and she turned her head to look at something, and the mark on her neck became visible. Noah had seen that symbol on many of Claudia's things. He had been the reason Stiles was cut off from his mother's family. He hadn't been happy when they hadn't come to see Claudia before she died.

"Helena?" Noah asked.

"I told mother that you would know me. Yes. Adam's here as well; he's making sure that all traces of the magic done by Deaton is gone."

"Deaton left years ago. He couldn't have done anything."

"The magic was still there. It was...invasive. If Adam gets his hands on McCall, he's going to die. We are here just as a precaution. Keep your deputies out of this. This is something that human law cannot touch."

Noah looked at Peter to see the determination on his face. He could see that there was no way for him to change their minds. He felt like he should say something about not killing someone suspected of a crime, but in the end, he wasn't sure what kind of jail would hold Scott.

In the end, Noah could only nod his head.

---

Peter held the spark inside of him. It warred with the one already in there but did not merge. The hospital was dark, but it wasn't empty. Part of the reason why Peter had Stiles isolated was to make sure he could get access when he needed it.

The alpha spark inside of him didn't want to leave, but Peter didn't care. He grabbed Stiles' hand as soon as he got close enough, and the coolness of it pissed Peter off even more. He gripped the hand, and he pushed. He pushed that spark out of him to save Stiles like Derek had done for Cora a long time before.

Adam had found Scott and had killed him in a ritual. As soon as the spark was done with Stiles, it would move through all of the townspeople whom Scott had harmed in some fashion.

The monitor started to freak out as Stiles healed, and then it calmed down again. The nurse on duty would ignore it.

"You love him," Derek said.

"Yes, but we couldn't be together until McCall was done with it and there was something going on, but first, we needed to erode the layer of help that Deaton had built in for Scott over the years. Deaton's dead, by the way. It was a freak accident, or at least made to look like it."

"The coven started to fix us all, and then Scott found out and freaked out."

"Yes, the coven survived, and I'm sure I can build that alliance again. The spark will help them as well. Once it's done with Stiles, it'll move through everyone else. Helena and Adam made sure of it."

"I talked to the Sheriff when he came to see Stiles. How did you convince them to come here?"

"Celeste saved me, and I thought it was Stiles' mother, and I was dead. They look a lot alike for being not twin sisters. It was easy to talk about it all. It seems that Deaton's work on keeping people out went all the way back to Claudia's death and keeping her family away. Noah will have his issues correcting that issue later."

Derek nodded, but all Peter cared about was Stiles. He let go of Stiles' hand when he felt the spark fully seat itself in Stiles. He slumped down and took the seat that was close there. He wasn't leaving until Stiles opened his eyes. The attack had been horrible, and there was still the smell of blood all over him. There was nothing like it that Peter had ever seen. Even the brutalness of the attack on Deucalion by Gerard Argent at the summit meeting hadn't been like this.

This was the kind of thing that Peter would never think could happen. Stiles was too smart, but they hadn't uncovered the depth of what Deaton had done yet. There was no way to predict this. He just wanted to slip into bed with Stiles and hold him, to take away the pain, but right now, the pain was good. If Stiles was without pain, things would not be good.

"I'll protect you. Sleep."

Peter looked at Derek to see the determination in his eyes, so Peter did. He toed off his shoes and slipped into the bed, ensuring he did not mess with the tubing and wires that came off Stiles. He wasn't sure what kind of thing to expect, but for Stiles to move a little like hew as curling in wasn't it. It had been months since they had shared a bed, and Peter missed it like a limb. He pressed a kiss to Stiles' forehead and closed his eyes. Everything would be fine now.

The End
