Nearby, some children are also done with their work for the day and are enjoying their free time. Their songs and laughter cast Geralt's mind towards a better time. One without war and responsibilities. Yennefer, Ciri, and him could all live together as a family, finally living a life they never got to experience. With no obligations forcing them to separate, they could spend their days making merry by a fire, reveling in their love for each other.

The idyllic fantasy shatters at the sound of a father scolding the children. They had started singing a song of the Nilfgaardian emperor's incompetence, and the man was worried for his children's safety. If any Nilfgaardian soldiers heard and took offense, they would face severe punishment. Geralt empathizes with the father as he ushers the children inside. It is a dangerous world, and all he wants to do is keep his family safe. But he doesn't know where Yennefer and Ciri are.
