It seemed like every cat in the neighbourhood was here, dozing in the late afternoon sunshine. Mack looked for his favourite toy, dodging Macchiato as she played with the twisty rail.

"Watch out!" cried Cocoa from the top of the athletic cat gym as a ball of yarn rolled across the deck. Barrelling after it, the normally reserved Spooky tumbled over the edge onto the sakura pillow where Marshmallow was napping.

Marshmallow jumped up hissing. Her ears flattened as she dashed across the yard and through the gap in the fence.

Mack seized his chance, pouncing on the unguarded ball.
