"It's your fault we're stuck." Carl kicked the rope on the floor and scowled at Peter. "If you hadn't pulled it--"

Peter huffed as he completed his exploratory lap around the cave. "You'd rather it fell off when you were climbing back up? Yeah, good thinking."

Carl kicked the rope again. "Still your fault." He was sure it was, even if he didn't have a good reason. "Whose stupid fuckin' idea was this anyway?" he muttered, well aware it was mostly his. Why didn't anyone ever talk him out of this shit?

Peter tried to get a foothold on the walls, but the cave wasn't going to give them any help.

"They'll find us," he said confidently.

"It could take hours!" Carl shouted, and winced as it echoed around the walls.

"Is that Carlos for 'Please distract me from my imaginary impending death'?" Peter raised an eyebrow.

Carl wrestled with the possibility of them being found at the wrong moment, but not giving a shit won by a knockout, Peter's sly grin sidling up to him, and the pressure of a hand on his zip.

He let his head fall back, and hoped they wouldn't be found too soon.
