Far From Home

It is known by different names to different people. A doorway to the unknown. A space between life and death. A fracture of time and space. The Veil. An entrance to the abyss. No one is certain what it exactly is, but one thing known without any doubt, is that the trip is one way.

Once someone or something traverses the doorway to the unknown, they know they are never coming back.

On an extremely rare occasion something is returned from this nether region.

A brilliant light flashed over dark, barren and desolate land and three bodies were flung out, tumbling and coming to a rest on the cold hard ground.

The three men appeared disheveled and disoriented as each looked at themselves and then each other. Finally all three spoke in almost unison and each with a distinct accent: American, English and Welsh, "I'm not dead?"

"Did you die too?" The man with the American accent asked first.

"I was murdered by my cousin." The very disheveled man with the English accent replied, reaching into his tattered clothes for something and coming up empty.

"Alien virus. What about you?" The last spoke as he carefully took in his surroundings.

"I died in an earthquake my father created. I'm Tommy Merlyn." Now was good as any for introductions and neither of the other men reacted to his name. It was the infamous Merlyn arrogance that made Tommy believe everyone knew the Merlyn name.

"Sirius Black." He doubted they would know him as they both were obvious muggles, but there was a chance the Welsh one would have at least heard the name.

"Ianto Jones and I hazard a guess we are far from home." Ianto knew the name Sirius Black. Anyone in the wizarding world did, even with the brief four years Ianto spent at Hogwarts.

An odd sound filled the air as if it were coming from all directions and Ianto was the only one who knew they were about to be visited by a mad man in a blue box.

What Ianto didn't know was that the man was not alone and had two companions very familiar to him.

Great use of the prompt and a very clever last line.

Oooh, I like it! It reads like a prologue ;)

Ianto went to Hogwarts? Cool!

I almost feel sorry for Tommy, he's kind of the odd one out.

Thanks.

Yeah it does. But with my muses these days who knows what will come of it.

Lol just wait until Tommy meets Jack'.
