“So I was telling my sister about you,” Chuck said. “About how we covered the caf floor in silly putty last weekend.”

“Mmmhmmm,” Bryce said, not listening as he kissed a line down Chuck’s neck.

“She sort of asked if we were together.”

Bryce leaned back.

“I told her yes,” Chuck said. “I mean, I hope that’s okay – I know we should have talked about it first.”

“I wouldn’t want you to lie. That’s not who you are.”

Chuck grinned. “So… do you want to tell… other people?” His eyes were large, trusting.

“...No.” Bryce already had enemies.

“Oh. Okay.” Disappointment. Hurt.

Bryce wanted to tell him that it wasn’t what Chuck thought – he wasn’t ashamed to tell the world that he loved men, that he loved Chuck. But he had no words.

He leaned forward again to press his lips to Chuck’s. He hoped, desperately, it would be enough.
