Title: To Right What’s Wrong

Author notes: Love Witch is a manga that Naoko Takeuchi worked on a few years after finishing Sailor Moon. It was about a girl, Ai “Love” Anju, that learns she is a witch on her thirteenth birthday. She sacrificed her sickly brother to awaken her powers, but regretted the decision afterward. Sadly, the manga was cancelled after four chapters because of Kodansha losing parts of the script. The manga “ended” when Love was invited to a witch convention to earn a chance to receive a wish from the goddess that is the “mother” of all witches. So, this is a possible, downer ending to it. Maybe someday I'll work on an extended fan version of chapter four on (with a happier ending), but for now this is it.
Summary: Ai Anju has one wish, even if it will work against her very existence.

Ai covered her eyes with her red cape as a light illuminated the dark void she was within. When the light lessened in intensity, she let go, then dropped her jaw in awe.
Right before her was the goddess, the one everyone spoke about with fascination and high regard. The woman was tall and pale and with long, ankle length silver white hair. On her head was a wooden laurel crown with a triple moon symbol on the center. Her midnight blue eyes, blood red lips, and snow white gown glowed as she slightly smiled and bowed before Ai. The younger, red-clad witch stood before remembering her manners and returning the gesture. Her red witch hat and bound pink pigtails tilted down with the rest of her body, and back up as she regained normal posture.
“Anju Ai,” the goddess finally said, with a charmingly calm motherly tone. “Such a fitting name for a love witch.”
A blushing Ai only smiled.
“My prosperous daughter, I have the power to grant one wish of yours.”
Ai nodded. “Yes. And I believe I know what my wish is, Mother Goddess.”
“Are you certain? I may grant one and only one, young witchling, or risk my existence ceasing. Are you certain, I ask again, that you know what you desire?”
Ai shivered, began to tear up. If she was hesitant for any longer she would perhaps run away again, just like how she did the first time she attempted the ritual.
“Mother Goddess,” she choked, “I wish for my brother to be born healthy. Don’t punish him for being born a boy! I don’t care what’s going to happen to me! Just give him my life force and make sure that he is okay!”
Mother Goddess’s expression did not change as she nodded, summoned an empty perfume bottle from thin air and into her hand. She rose the bottle like she would a wine glass and whispered,
“Open.”
A windstorm stirred within the void. Ai’s hat flew off her head and the goddess’s long hair whipped against her face. Ai smelled the scent of pine needles before noticing a red light between her and the goddess. The light enlarged and seemingly melted toward her. It first grabbed her feet, and they painlessly dissolved into it.
Despite knowing what was about to happen, she did not feel fear. She shed one last bittersweet tear before thinking:
At least I know you will be okay, dear brother…
She shut her eyes just before the red light entirely engulfed her and disappeared. Only a red witch hat lost forever in the void would soon be the only evidence Anju Ai ever existed. Mother Goddess shook her head with pity before disappearing out the void in white light.
