Title: What's Better
Fandom: Broadchurch
Rating: G
Length: 106
Warning: Spoilers for the end of the series.
Summary: Moving on is not that easy.
Notes: Thanks, Jess, for the beta work. Also written for Challenge #37: Weekly Quick Fic #12 @ [livejournal.com profile] writerverse (Prompt: Secrets)

It’s an effort, you think, to continue with life as if nothing bad has happened.

You have two children to think about, one who understands what has happened beyond his years and one who is yet to understand. You’re dreading the day when he looks up to you and asks, “Where’s Dad?”

It’s better to leave Broadchurch, you think. It’s better to run away to some place where they don’t know your husband’s name and the crime he had committed. It’s the only way to protect your children, and after your own failure to notice a murderer in your bed, it’s all you can hope for.

Wow... This is excellent (as usual, of course). I just watched the second series and this so captures the tone of the opening.
