He had tried, fairies!, had he tried hard. But Lucy seemed to always be teaching him things about himself he wouldn’t have noticed alone.

For example, he had never thought he could be so affected by a girl’s body. And damn, he had never thought it would be so hard to hide his reaction from her. But there she was, forcedly naked, asking desperate for help, and all he could think of was all the different ways he could touch her body.

And he had, indeed, touched her. It was just too much. If he was lucky, maybe she wouldn’t think much of it, after all, he was Natsu Dragneel, pretty well known as the oblivious boy who would never notice a girl on his own.

Boy, were those rumours wrong! And it was Lucy who taught him how ridiculously wrong they really were.

He needed to restrain himself. She was his friend, she trusted him, and he could never, ever, betray such trust. However, it was quite difficult to focus on reason when your body was making such loud demands.

“Lucy’s turned into some mega pervert!” he said, trying desperately to act like he didn’t care.

To his luck (?), she got pissed.

“As if!! It was a dragon! A dragon I tell you!”

Which could only mean a lot of other people saw her naked as the dragon worked his magic. Now he was pissed. No one had the right to see her naked. N-o o-n-e.

“Are all dragons that violent? There’s that fire one… then the rock one… and even that Zirconis… I was almost eaten, for crying out loud!”

Thankfully, she brought his mind out of the flammable crisis of jealousness, once again focusing on how to defeat the damned dragons.

“That’s it!”

“Eh?”

“I’ve got it! Finally! A way to beat them!”

She was almost covered again, but with his outburst, the piece of cloth no one would ever know where the hell it came from fell, leaving her perfect goddess body exposed again. He really needed to get out of there, and he needed to do it quickly.

“Lucy.” He called out while she once again tried to hide herself from the world.

“Yes?” she wasn’t used to see him so serious, so she knew it was something very important.

“When all of this is over, there’s something I need to tell you.”

Curious as every girl was just bound to be, Lucy’s first urge was to ask him what was it about, but she refrained herself. He had already said he wanted to tell her later, so she should respect that. However, Natsu saw the glittering curiosity shining on her warm eyes, and he suddenly knew what he had to do.

Approaching her, he held her tightly by the arms, touching his lips on hers, half sweetly, half forcefully.

First, Lucy’s eyes went wide, but she soon relaxed, closing them and surrendering to that unexpected but welcome kiss.

“I’ll be waiting after you defeated future Rogue and that dragon.”

“It won’t take long, I promise.”

She just smiled to him.

“Go get them.”

And there it was, one more thing she had taught him. Winning made much more sense when there was someone waiting for you in the end.
