A/N: Not really beta-d. You know me, not patient enough to wait once it's written. Sorry.
Prompt: The Lost Hour
Summary: Justin loses an hour - or two.

The hour before Brian was set to arrive was always the hardest for Justin. Why couldn’t time just speed up? He’d catch himself sighing, glancing at the clock, trying to keep himself busy.

He’d check the sheets - smoothing them out for the third time that day.

He’d open the refrigerator - plenty of bottled water for the other man.

He’d shut the door of the appliance - only to open it again and groan. Why was time moving so slowly?

He’d look out the window - the other taxis coming and going always made him think of how long it took for Brian’s to get there.

He’d brush his teeth – slowly and deliberately. That would waste a few minutes. But not quite enough minutes.

He’d double check the dresser - Brian’s drawer was still empty, ready to accept all of a weekend’s worth of clothes. Except for that shirt he’d left the last time. Actually, the shirt that Justin hid and kept.  He hated seeing the drawer completely empty. And filling it with his own clothes until Brian arrived seemed even worse.

All of these small annoyances, the time wasted waiting for the other man meant nothing once Brian arrived. He forgot about it completely. He found himself lost in other moments.

He was lost in Brian’s arms from the second the other man walked in the door.

He got lost looking into the other man’s eyes.  They always reminded him of home, of where he came from, of what he had to lose and what he had gained.

He found himself lost as his body tangled with Brian’s countless times in their short weekend together. Their legs intertwined, bodies covered in a thin sheen of sweat. Both of them too lost in the moment to say much. It was all Justin could do to muster up the energy to look at the clock with one eye open before letting his head fall back onto Brian’s chest.  He had a whole hour until the other man had to leave.

He knew just how long an hour could last. He had just spent an hour waiting for Brian, two days ago.

But that hour never seemed to last as long as the first hour did. It was over in a blink of an eye. He had lost an hour, just like that. And the other man was gone as quickly as he had come.

Quicker, in fact.

Time is funny the way it goes by slowly or fly's by before you know it... Truly living in the few short hours that they have together... ~ Kathleen

It's true, time works in mysterious ways, doesn't it?! :)

You really captured the feeling of anticipation and as they say counting down the time when you're looking forward to something or someone :).

Same goes for that sadness/melancholy when you know it's time to say goodbye or realize that the moment is almost gone.

Great writing and thanks for sharing.

It does work that way, doesn't it? The minutes drag by when you're waiting for something. And when you want them to slow down? They are gone in a blink of an eye!

I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks so much. :)

Gorgeous, bittersweet fic! Loved Justin's perception of these cherished moments with Brian, during their separation, as the hours before the visit are everlasting and the actual visit is so fleeting. Loved it. :)

Thanks! I'm glad it all came through okay. It was choppy, but I was hoping that added to just how...time works sometimes.

Thanks so much for reading and for your feedback.

A very human experience, I think we've all felt this.
(I still will never understand why they had to be apart.)
Nice and concise: A great idea very well executed. (IMHO)
Thank you for posting.

Thanks for your feedback! I'm glad you liked it. And it's very true - we all have those moments ...where we wonder why time is moving the way it is.

Thanks again! (I'm a bit late here, eh? SorrY!)
