Five Things: White Collar: Game: Go Fish

Title: Go Fish
Fandom: White Collar
Rating: PG-13
Summary: card game

This idea occurred to me while working on the Solitaire cards, but it didn't fit at the time since Go Fish is not a solitary game.  The game is most commonly played with sets of four (quartets), but in deference to the challenge I made sets of five.

You can check out the basic rules of the game here, but there really are so many variations, just go with what you feel like.

While regular playing cards offer room for playing around with the design, Go Fish/Quartets design is completely open and therefore much easier to make.  The number of sets is also variable (I made 9), and you can always make more and switch around.  The only basic requirement is that you list all the set members on every card in the set.

You make Go Fish cards in much the same way as you would regular playing cards (see my original post above): create all your cards in one project, putting every distinct design element on a separate layer.  Then print them out, paste onto cardboard, cut out and play away.

final cards

I did make the cards bigger than the standard for playing cards, about 74*105mm, which fit 8 on a regular A4, though for ease of use I printed each set on a separate page.  Check your spelling before making your final cards (I fell on this point, hopefully I caught it all).

You can download all the cards and the GIMP file I used to make them here (Zip, 24MB).

Thanks :-) I had a whole bunch of other ideas (like "Neal's ties" or "NY landmarks"), but they required a bit of research.
