Summary: Danny takes Kono home for a family wedding.

Kono is cold.

Kono hates being cold, isn't used to it, misses the warmth of the Hawaii sun and she finds herself thinking that she must really love Danny if she's allowed him to drag her to Jersey in January.

It's not all bad, she admits, because while it's cold outside, the warmth in the Williams house more than makes up for it. Danny's father is so like him it's like seeing what Danny will be like in another thirty years. His mom's a great cook, his sisters are lovely and the fact that Grace is there too means that most of the attention is on the little girl they hardly see any more.

Danny's new girlfriend barely warrants a second glance.

Which is good, because she doesn't want them to know how much she's shivering - she's not going to be the new girlfriend who never stops complaining; one of his sisters has already told her that Rachel did enough of that towards the end.

She's looking forward to meeting the extended family, even if the dress she brought with her is a slip of a thing that looked great in Hawaii but isn't really Jersey-January appropriate, but she wears it anyway and she's glad she did when Danny sees her in it. The slightly dumbfounded look, followed immediately by a slow smile sliding across his face more than warms her, and from the look in his eyes, she knows that going to the wedding is suddenly the last thing he wants to do. Kono likes it, likes knowing she has that effect on him, puts an extra swing in her hips for good measure, laughs at his quickly stifled groan.

His cousin's wedding turns out to be a raucous affair, "straight from the old country," his dad calls it, fake accent and all, and Kono laughs, the warmth in the room, among the family, the welcome they've extended her doing for her what extra layers never could.

Through it all, Danny never leaves her side, the smile never leaving his face, his hand barely leaving hers.

"Still cold?" he asks her in the middle of a slow dance, and she shrugs.

"Getting better," she tells him and he gives her one of those slow smiles that does crazy things to her heart-rate.

"I'll warm you up later," he promises, and she doesn't tell him that she's plenty warm from this, from them, from him.

Anything he can do later on will just be a bonus.
