Michael was in the kitchen, shuffling through a bunch of papers with an exasperated look on his face when Ben walked in from the gym. He couldn't resist the other man for long and proceeded to scoop Michael up into his arms the second he laid his gym bag down. He had barely had a chance to press his lips into the other man's when he felt him pushing against his chest with both his hands.

As he let Michael go, he couldn’t help but let out a snicker as the younger man crossed his arms across his chest defiantly. “I hate you. Don’t try that nice shit with me right now.”

Ben held both hands up and chuckled. “I promise. No nice shit.” He winked. “What’s wrong, Brown Eyes?”

“I let you talk me into going back to school,” he huffed out before waving his hands around dramatically. “Where did that get me? Nowhere. Now I can’t even find my assignment for my English class tonight.”

Ben’s grin turned into a quick grimace and he took a step backwards. “You mean the one that was sitting on the table this morning?”

Michael rolled his eyes. “Yes the one that was sitting on the table, why?”

“No reason.” Ben grinned and started to move towards the family room. “Just wait right here.”

“Ben, what did you do?”

Michael voice was reaching the shrill level. Ben knew he had to act quickly. “I said wait there!” He returned shortly with the paper held triumphantly in his hand, as an offering.

“Why did you have it?”

Ben shrugged sheepishly. “I didn’t know that it was yours. And this morning I was packing up all my papers I was grading last night. Yours was next.” He winked. “I am sure you would have gotten excellent marks.”

“Stay away from my paper!” Michael snatched the paper away from Ben’s strong hands. “Seriously.”

“It was purely accidental. I thought I had left one out and was packing up my work bag this morning before the gym. I’m sorry, baby.” His words and tone were both very genuine, but that wasn’t stopping Michael.

He turned his back to Ben. “You didn’t read it, did you?”

“Not yet. Why? Does it reveal your secret identity?”

Michael shrugged. “Just don’t okay?”

“Michael, I would never knowingly violate your privacy.” He was almost concerned at this point that he had offended the other man. “I didn’t even look at it. I promise.”

Michael sighed softly and turned around. “We had to write a paper on the person who changed your life he most.” His eyes softened and he held the paper out towards Ben. “It’s about you, okay?”

Ben couldn’t contain the smile any longer. He took the few pieces of paper but set them down immediately, covering the ground between him and the other man in a few steps. “Brown Eyes.”

“Don’t. It’s silly. Just read it so I can get the fucking embarrassment over with.”

“I don’t have to read anything you have written down, Michael. You show me, every day how much you love me. With your eyes.” He looked into his husband’s eyes and smiled softly. He did love those brown eyes so.  “With your lips.” He dipped his head down, catching Michael’s lips with his own. “With your body.” He let his hands slide up the smaller man’s frame and then back down his back.

“I hate you.” Michael breathed out softly.

“I didn’t read it, Michael. I promise.”

“I hate you for making me not hate you.”

“This is going to be a long semester,” Ben said, before he covered his Michael’s mouth with his own, stopping any further protesting.
