Gus drug the box down from the attic, huffing and puffing, and patting dust off his shoulders as he set it down. He was grinning from ear to ear as he watched Justin look up at him from his easel.

“I’m afraid to ask.” He set down his paint brush, wiped his hands on his pants and raised an eyebrow at the young man.

“Dad said to get all my crap out of the house since I was moving into my own place.” He was beaming. “And then,” he laughed loudly. “I found this whole box of…awesome.”

Justin shrugged as he knelt down by the box. “Alright, I give. What’s in it?”

“Look!” Gus ‘ tone had hit the impatient level. He was literally hopping around waiting for Justin to discover it on his own.

“Oh. My. God.” The blond looked up, his hand over his mouth. “Your father is going to,” he paused to chuckle, “die.” He pulled a shoebox out from the cardboard one.

“Seriously. He has a mullet, Justin. A fucking mullet.” Gus was giddy as he began to pull the pictures out of the box.

Justin could feel the tears stinging his eyes as he pulled out a particular picture, holding it up for Gus and pointing. He tried to form words but couldn’t even catch his breath between laughs.

“You could fit three people in those pants.” Gus sputtered out, his eyes wide. “What were they thinking?”

Justin shrugged. “I don’t even think I was born yet.” He dissolved into another fit of giggles. “So I have no idea.”

They both jumped at the sound of Brian’s voice in the background. “They were called parachute pants. And they were cool, I will have you both know.”

Gus looked up, rolling his lips into his mouth and averted his eyes before opening his mouth. “Wait til you see the one where you’re wearing zebra stripes.”

Brian growled back quickly. “I already did.”

Justin looked over at Gus quickly, who looked down sheepishly as Brian continued. “The Internet moves gossip quicker than your Grandma Deb, Sonny Boy.”

Gus shrugged. “You’re welcome?”

Brian groaned as his phone beeped three times. Justin and Gus took the moment to look at each other and snicker before Brian looked up from his phone. “Mikey said why didn’t you tag him in that one of us?”

Gus scrunched his nose up slightly. “I didn’t see one.” He gasped. “Is he the one who looked like a girl? With the leg warmers?”

“Hey, 1984 was a confusing time for Uncle Mikey,” Brian snorted.
