They found the map when they raided Filch's office. They had been looking for something that was theirs; honestly, they were. But a scroll in a box was too tempting to ignore. 

A rumour had been heard from a ghost of Gryffindor house about four boys and a map. Fred remembered the lamentation of Nearly Headless Nick about a prank, while George remembered the incantation. 

"I solemnly swear that I am up to no good."

Grinning, the twins tapped the map once more. "Mischief managed."

Because, really, what was a secret if not a benefit to those worthy?
