Winter Ga(y)mes

"You know, when you said that a few things around the house need fixing, you failed to mention that the heating works only two times out of ten."

Justin looks very much like a walking blanket-burrito as he shuffles into the living room, careful not to trip and spill the two cups of hot cocoa.

"You're exaggerating," Brian replies, "it's working three times out of ten." He tries not to appear too needy when he takes one cup from Justin's hands. After his first refusal to even cover himself in a blanket, he is glad that his husband has remember to spike his drink.

"Mere details." Justin all but curls around the cup as he sits down, takes a sip and smiles in content when the hot liquids starts to thaw his insides.

"I thought you'd approve of this. Sitting by the fire. Cuddling." That last word drips like venom from Brian's lips and he shudders. Not just from the cold.

Justin scowls at him but still shifts closer to Brian and to the fire. "When I said that, I meant cuddling for romantic, sexy purposes not for survival."

Brian empties his cup and sets it aside. "You know what the infamous 'cuddling for warmth' might lead to, right?" His hand crawls under Justin's blanket and the blond's eyes grow wide.

"What's this going to be? Role playing under life-threatening circumstances?" Justin's voice wavers and he suddenly doesn't feel all that cold any more despite the blood loss in his upper body.

Brian presses a kiss to his mouth. "Think of it as 'Gay Winter Games'."

I liked this! It was a very clever use of the prompt, the characters themselves aware of it as a cliché and using it in a wee bit of improvisational role playing.

Thank you :)
And yeah, they are definitely aware, especially since Brian hates all of those cliches. At first, I wanted to write something longer, more explicit, but then I thought it might just work as a little ficlet.

It worked really well, a lovely little snapshot of intimacy and domesticity. I've only seen the UK version, but this was really 'nice', in the original sense of well crafted and delicately done.
