The idea to create a map was an ill-conceived one. Remus knew that even though Prongs said he came up with the idea for their benefit, he really thought of such a solution to help Padfoot get in and out of the girls’ dormitories without getting caught.

But who was Remus to turn down such a brilliant idea just because it may or may not help his friend be more notorious than ever? Especially since he would always be in their debt for being there for him whenever his condition takes a turn for the worst.

Besides, since Padfoot fell on his arse when he tried to meet Jessica for a quick snog, Remus knew that the headmaster had become wise to the behavior of youth and had enchanted the staircase to keep boys out.

And so, together, they created a map to help them see who was in the castle at all times. What was the harm in such a piece of paper, really?
