Strange How The Night Moves

You wake when thunder rolls outside. It takes you a moment to figure out where you are and why your heart is beating so fast.

Slowly, you rise. Your back hurts and so does you head. The latter makes you feel nauseous, you wish you had something to drink.

You step up to the window, and you watch him sleep like you do every night. His hand twitches every now and then and sometimes his foot jerks. You remember how he has kicked you in bed once and how he had denied it the morning after.

When the nurse on duty walks by, you gesture for her to come over.

"Do you need anything?" she asks with professional concern.

You nod towards him. "When he wakes, can you get him something to eat?"

"He never wants anything."

You can't help but smile. "Yeah, he can be stubborn. Just... keep trying. He needs it."

"I will," she says. "Now go back to bed, Mr. Taylor."
