Summary : A Fraser/Kowalski first-time in two languages, two POV's.

FRASER    So dark a night

RAY     Don’t matter how dark a night

FRASER    I can walk nearly invisible

RAY    Don’t matter I can’t see my reflection in the window

FRASER    So hot a night

RAY     Night or day I’ve become invisible

FRASER    I know I’m far from home

RAY     The guy I’m supposed to be I don’t resemble

FRASER    Now I’m looking up

       RAY     I dance over

FRASER    At your apartment window

       RAY     To my window

FRASER    And I see you dancing

RAY     And I see you watching

FRASER    All alone

       RAY     All alone

 FRASER    Dansez avec moi

       RAY     So who’s gonna lead

FRASER    I want you to dance with me

       RAY     And who’s gonna follow

FRASER    Touchez moi

       RAY     Who’s gonna be first

FRASER    Touchez moi ici

       RAY     To allow that touch

FRASER    You so aptly named, Ray of light

RAY     Yeah, now I know who I am

FRASER    You’ve touched my heart, now touch my body

RAY     Because I know who we are

FRASER    Vous avez touché mon coeur

       RAY     The lovers we’ll be

FRASER    Maintenant touchez mon corps

       RAY     Already partners and friends

L’ENVOI

Heat of the night feels hotter still

From our touching and tasting, skin on skin

Nous ne sommes pas les deux solitudes

Wow
Wow that really spoke from the heart, the emotions that they both are feeling pour out of that. They both feel so alone in the big city yet they know they have each other to be there for each other, Excellent work girls xx

Interesting array of doubles (2 authors, 2 voices, 2 languages, and the inside/outside mirror/window theme). Edited to add: And now I've looked up the "two solitudes" reference, which brings at least a double meaning to this context (the Canada/America dichotomy as well as the more general two-people-alone... :)

I'm intrigued by the idea that Fraser talks (thinks) about love in French, perhaps as a distancing mechanism/way of tricking himself past his own walls. (And am reminded of the bit in the Lord Peter Wimsy books where he tells his love interest that he only knows how to make love in French because he's only had French lovers, she's the only English one. Though the meaning's very different there, of course...)

Go YOU! You got every one of the "doubles" references there...even searching out the multiple meanings of "two solitudes".

You are also correct about Fraser's distancing and tricking ploy here...and note his degree of formality, too...using the "vous" form instead of the "tu" form.

TYK for reading and for your very thoughtful comments.
