Hello! Thank you for posting my badge... but when I looked at the list I couldn't find my name on the list of contributors to the challenge? Maybe I didn't post it correctly, but here was my entry.

http://bghost.livejournal.com/8123.html

I'm always messing up when I come to posting, and one day I'll figure out how to get it right, but could you add this to the list? Because I did post it (or attempt to do so) quite early on.

I am, I realise, a complete eegit at times, and am sorry if I messed up. Honestly... I will figure this out eventually!

Ah... I figured out what happened. I originally posted the whole story to the notice board, then deleted it, because it was too long, posted it to my journal instead, and forgot to post a new link on the notice board.

Sorry!

But please, could this count to the challenge?

Thank you.

Hi there, I'm sorry but I can't add it to the list because you didn't post it to the [livejournal.com profile] fan_flashworks community. We can only list entries to the challenge that are posted to this comm (or its Dreamwidth equivalent).

Hum... is it too late to add it? Because I did, in fact, originally add it to the community on June the 11th. And I've been working hard on keeping a straight run of fics for each challenge. At the very least, can I post it to the AO3 community? (But I would really like to be able to add it here too.)

If you like, I could talk to admin, and show the messages exchanged at the time I originally posted my story to the notice board. What happened is, I originally posted the entire story to the board, and it was too long. So, I deleted that entry, and posted it instead on my journal. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, I didn't post a link to my journal entry on the board. But, I definitely made an honest effort to contribute to the challenge. And, it would be a shame if my long streak was broken. I'm prepared to start from scratch, but I'm just sad that my efforts might have been unappreciated and wasted on this one.

For future reference, and to make sure I don't mess up like this again, I will get a friend to check up for me that I'm doing it right.

Thanks for at least considering my appeal.

I'm a bit confused about the references to the noticeboard. Do you mean [livejournal.com profile] ds_noticeboard? [livejournal.com profile] fan_flashworks isn't connected to [livejournal.com profile] ds_noticeboard at all, so posting there isn't the same as posting your entry here (and in fact, doing so technically disqualifies your story from our challenges, because entries should only be posted to this comm for the duration of the challenge, though if it was only up there for a short while, we wouldn't worry about that).

As far as I can tell, your story wasn't posted to [livejournal.com profile] fan_flashworks at any stage.

We do appreciate your efforts and your commitment to the comm.

I can't, for the life of me, figure out what happened, but I do know that I tried, several times, to post this in the correct place. I wrote the story specifically for this particular challenge (as I think the title and content indicate)and am really gutted that I messed it up. I knew all about this challenge, and wasn't writing this fic for any other space.

Can I, at the very least, post it with the rest of the fanworks on AO3? I do have certain specific challenges when it comes to posting, as I think you may be aware by now (I've made mistakes before, but this is the worst one.) I did in fact beta for one of the other contributors to this challenge, so, I hope it is clear that this story was, from the very outset, intended for this particular challenge.

Again, I am very sorry for having messed up.

I don't doubt that you wrote the fic for the challenge, but posting entries to the comm (and only the comm) is our most fundamental rule. I know it's disappointing, but please don't feel too bad. It takes a while to get the hang of things.

And yes, you can go ahead and add it to the AO3 collection.

Thank you for letting me post to AO3. That means something. I take it my streak is now broken? Well, I'll just have to start again. I'd been feeling quite pleased with myself! D'oh. Yes... I know it takes a while to get the hang of things, but it's been months now, and I keep messing up. I am quite discouraged. But, I will ask friends to check in future.

So, in posting it to my journal I made the mistake, I should have posted it here? Obviously, I must have posted it in entirely the wrong place originally...

Good Lord, I do sometimes think I should just give up.

Anyway... I'll start again. Thanks for your patience. If I mess up again though, I don't know what I'll do.

Yes, that's the issue -- works you make for [livejournal.com profile] fan_flashworks have to be posted at the comm and ONLY at the comm until the challenge is over. You can link to them from your own journal if you want, or from [livejournal.com profile] ds_noticeboard or wherever else, but the post itself needs to be here if you want it to count.

But yes, please don't feel bad. We were all new once (just check out the first post on my journal if you want to see proof of that -- I didn't even know how to make usernames or anything. *g*). Keep posting! Practice makes perfect. And if you are ever not sure about something, china_shop or I would be happy to help -- you just have to ask.
