Title: Breakfast of Champions
Fandom: Diablotin/Adventure World/Star Trek Reboot/Inception/A Song of Ice and Fire
Characters: Sanadhil Orecalo, Vedran Callais, Nero, Arthur, Jon Snow
Content Notes: This seemed like a fun challenge to play around with, so this is what I have done. I went to AO3, and looked at 5 fandoms for which I have written the most stories. I took the character who appears in the most of my fics or, when there was a tie, the most popular character in the fandom that I have written for previously. And I have designed a menu which I would serve if by some crazy happenstance, I had to feed them all breakfast together. Further explanations under the cut :D
Spoiler Warnings: Contains spoilers for A Song of Ice and Fire book series and Game of Thrones show. And Inception, if you haven't seen it.
The Guests, in order of appearance (i.e. of fandom):
Sanadhil Orecalo: Half-elven Professor of Alternative Magic Systems, master of enchantment and mind-altering magic. Telepath, member of a happy polyamorous triad, and father of five children. Polite, charming, perceptive, manipulative as all hell. Vegetarian.
Vedran Callais: Another half-elf, this time an adventurer and the bastard son of a high-ranking political official. Trained as a bard and a diplomat; recently unofficially separated from his wife and the mother of their fifteen-month-old son. Easy-going, friendly, diplomatic, but under a lot of stress. Not a picky eater, and interested in foreign cuisines.
Nero: Batshit-crazy Romulan captain of the mining ship Nerada. Used experimental technology to go back in time and avenge himself on the man he blamed for the destruction of his homeworld, then spent twenty-five years in a Klingon prison planet because he overshot. Widower, no children. Cold, calculating, driven, charismatic, and did I mention batshit crazy? Given what little I know about Romulan cuisine, I'm going to treat him like he's on the Paleo diet.
Arthur: Thief and an architect of dreams. Recently lost his close friend and partner in a big contract that went very sour (probably). May be shacking up with one of the other survivors from that debacle, but if he is, he's not saying. Calm, classy, competent, creative. Has refined tastes.
Jon Snow: Human, and another noble bastard. His father has been executed by the state, but even before that he joined a brotherhood of men sworn to protect the realm from supernatural boogeymen and the disorganized raiders living on the other side of a giant ice wall. He is now their leader, but he is awfully young for all the responsibility struggles with making the right decisions. Responsible, resourceful, brooding, oh yes, and incredibly angsty. He grew up in a castle, but he's been living on the Wall, and I don't think his palate is all that refined. You know nothing about breakfast, Jon Snow.
The Meal:
Sanadhil makes polite conversation but is mostly quiet, trying to take the measure of his companions. He's a light eater and has fruit salad, yogurt, and tea. He samples the pancake to be polite, but finds it too heavy for his liking.
Vedran does his best to make sure everyone feels comfortable and that there aren't too many awkward silences, trying his best to smooth over any cultural differences. He'll try a little bit of everything, saving the mimosas for after-dinner conversation.
Nero is quiet. In fact he's taken a vow of silence, swearing not to speak until the day comes for him to destroy Spock. He listens closely to other people's conversations, but no one mentions Vulcans or the Federation, so no one gets stabbed. He has bacon, sausages, fruit salad, and coffee. And some mimosa, though they don't get him drunk fast enough for his liking.
Arthur talks without saying much, trying to get a handle on these people. He gets drawn in to a conversation with Sanadhil about the complexities of dream travel, but is nonplussed when San explains how easily he can lift information from people's minds, like exactly which roommate Arthur is involved with. Tries the pancake, with coffee and bacon. Mimosa please!
Jon can't quite decide what to make of his companions, and is secretly impressed by Nero's commitment to his vow, and is taken in by his quiet charisma - Jon can recognize a man in pain. He does his best to listen and keep up with everything going around the table, though Sanadhil and Arthur's discussions make him uncomfortable. He considers what all he can learn from all of his companions and enjoys a hearty breakfast, trying everything except the yogurt and saving some sausages for Ghost.
