Title: Under the Gun
Fandom: Queer as Folk (US) - Brian/Justin
Rating: PG-13
Content notes: --
Summery: under the cut
Author's Notes:
I don't know where the idea to do a genre swap came from. And I wanted to go as far as possible from the original storylines, so... I opted for doing a cop-show thingie.

A graphic with the potential new AU storyline is behind the cut...

A young man is found dead and with a bullet in his head in a dumpster behind the (in)famous Liberty Diner on Liberty Avenue, Pittsburgh. Was it a hate crime?
Run-down Detective Brian Kinney is assigned to the case to redeem himself from the many sins he has piled up in his career. Either he solves the case and finds the killer or he loses his badge. But what is he going to do when he finds the potential murder weapon in the pocket of rookie cop Justin Taylor, his partner on and off duty?

So, perfect story line is essentially perfect? What I want to know is why someone hasn't written this fic yet. :) Wonderful picspam, Sway! It works beautifully with your story summary.

Thank you very much :)

I don't even have an idea where this storyline came from. It just happened when I put together the caps. If I didn't have a gazillion other fics running, aside from having no idea how to write QaF!AU, I'd give it a shot but...

Well, I'd be more than happy to give you some tips on writing AUs if you ever decide to do it. They can be tricky, but I've done a few in other fandoms that turned out well received.

But, I definitely think you should give it a shot, all other fics be damned! (I may be a bit biased, though, since I want to read this so badly)

I've done a few AUs as well, back in the Buffy fandom. Somehow turning a vampire and Slayer into a bareknuckled boxer and an art student seems so much easier than this ;)

But who knows when I might take you up on it... it does sound delicious, doesn't it? Though I might put that flagging series on hold if I actually go with this O_o

Nooooo, I want the flagging series too. Can i have them both?

Oh, what a dilemma.... well, I might be able to squeeze in one of the flagging pieces. Good things they are more stand-alone-ish.

Oh dear.... if I really do this one (and it's not like I haven't given it some thought...), you're to blame, you know that, right?

It sounds like a kick ass AU. And AUs are such a blast to write.
I was NEVER one for AUs until someone prompted Werewolf + A-Team on a community and I was like O_o must do this NOW. And have never had as much fun writing a story. I think it's the still keeping the characters in character while putting them in weird situations that's the big fun of AUs.

I've written and read quite a few AUs back in the Buffy fandom where it was all the rage for a while.
It's (sort of) easier to put a fantasy show into the real world or vice versa so I'm not sure if I could work one real life show into another but... who knows. I could still be fun. And a challenge, too.

Well if you decide to tear that challenge up let us know because I'm so down for reading it. :)

Oh I will write it. In fact, I am. At least, I try to. I don't have much to show for just yet but... we'll get there ;) I've never written an AU in this fandom. Somehow, writing vampire as humans is easier than writing Brian as a cop.
