She smooths down the dress, the fabric pliant under her hands, the newly-familiar fit of women's garments soothing to her mind. She touches the sash around her waist and the buttons on her shoulder - remnants of Cesario's uniform.
She's lost practice with points and lacing, but finally she breathes deeply into her chest, grateful to be able to extend it without fear of discovery.
She still misses her hair, but time will mend that too. She unpins it, shakes out the short curls, and smiles at her reflection as she steps out into a new world for a second time.
