The parasites only seemed to imitate organisms that they could use to attack Samus. That, or imitating more-or-less inanimate creatures like coral made no sense to them.

Not that Samus had any business guessing at the logic of killer amoeboids. It always seemed to involve things trying to kill her – frequently large, dangerous things.

But she had reached a region of Sector 4 where all the fish seemed small and ordinary, all the coral seemed like flowers growing from the glass of their tanks.

It was quiet there, calm, almost peaceful.

But Samus had long equated quiet with ambush.
