Summary: When is a suitcase not a suitcase?



The thing was, it only looked like a suitcase: one of those natty overnight business ones with with room for precisely one change of clothing (not including shoes, naturally), but all the electronica and paperwork for a three-day conference, exactly sized to go under the seat, not in the overhead bin. (Never, ever was it to go in the overhead bin, just like it was never, ever, ever to be checked. But that came later of course. Much later.) Well, it could act like a suitcase — hold things, if it really wanted. Important things. End-of-the-world things.

It was shape-changing baggage from Procyon. Really.
