The wind whistles through the trees, but she barely notices anymore.

She sits outside and watches the forest, ignoring the wind and trying to listen for the howling wolves. She still hears them sometimes, their cries carrying through the blowing snow.

She wishes she could go and help them. She might be the only person who isn't afraid of them anymore. But what can she do? She can't talk to them, she can't warn them... she can't leave without someone seeing her.

It's cold outside. She wants to stay and listen to them, but she can't let herself get sick.
