Author notes: The fic I've been writing wandered away from the prompt and grew ridiculously long, so it's double drabble time.
Summary: Hannibal and Will are in hiding from the law, but not quite at Hannibal's usual level of luxury.



The house is as beat up as they are. Weeds pry apart the boards of the porch, doors are hanging off their hinges and paint is peeling everywhere.

Clearly Hannibal has spared no expense on their hideout. It probably takes time to move money around, even for Hannibal. They will just have to manage.

Hannibal can't do much while wounded. Cooking is an effort, though he won't be dislodged from that role now he has a kitchen again.

Will sets about a course of basic home improvement, as much as he can with some salvaged tins of paint and a screwdriver. Hannibal proves as adept at conversation as ever while he works, and surprisingly good at unearthing DIY videos on YouTube.

Will is painting the ceiling when he finds himself whistling happily.

Oh. Now he gets it.

"Always the therapist," he bites out, but Hannibal just looks relieved.

"Oh good," he says. "Now I can order some decent clothing. And I found this little butcher shop--"

"I may still be pissed with you about this when I'm ninety," Will says, before he thinks it through.

"I look forward to it." And Hannibal's smile finally overtakes the lines of pain.
