Horatio knew that Hamlet lived life as though his actions had no consequences, but he was drawn into the prince's orbit in spite of himself.
That first night, when his lips touched Hamlet's throat, he lingered. His teeth found purchase, then he sucked hard on the flesh. He only let go when the noises Hamlet made announced pain rather than pleasure.
The bruise was visible above Hamlet's collar for the next three days. It wasn't indelible, but Horatio figured it was as close to leaving a mark on Hamlet as anything was likely to be.
