Once, he carved galleries and palisades, laid veins of gold and silver, copper and iron running in rich profusion through heights and depths, set crystals of every kind and use and color to grow in the fastness of stone. He made slopes and vales where Yavanna's olvar and kelvar might flourish, a peak reaching high toward Varda's stars, breathing in Manwë's clear air.
