The green seemingly went on forever, vertical spires dappled with brown, low mounds that gleamed with gold shadows, grass that spread like water between the trees and shrubs. The forested mountains stood in dark emerald peaks beyond the treestems, and fireflies glimmered and flashed their neon lanterns as the sky dimmed toward evening. It was quiet under the trees, the faint rustle of leaves and grasses in the small breeze, the distant hum of bees making their way home to their hives the only sounds. The air drew in like a breath, waiting. With the sun, the Green had returned.
