Summary: Hibari is a bottomless pit, but Yagyū still picks up the bill.

Yagyū had ... one plate, and small portions on that. Hibari had the rest of the table to herself. Not unexpected, perhaps, but seeing her love in action – or, at least, her appetite in action – never failed to astound her. Not that she let it show. She had perfected a neutral expression, not only because the shinobi life demanded it, but because she had come to expect the impossible from everything, not only from combat. And it seemed impossible for Hibari to fit all of the food on the table into a body as petite as one might expect for a first-year academy student.

"Yagyū, try this!" A dumpling full of meat, steam rising from the top. And Yagyū did try it despite already being more or less full ... and feeling a little constricted on account of the tuxedo she had rented for the date, but she did not mind. Being stuffed was a small price to pay for spending a night treating Hibari to the good things in life. It was also a small price to pay for seeing Hibari in that knee-length black dress she had made for her, but she decided to keep that comment to herself, though she allowed herself the barest hint of a self-satisfied smile.

"Do you want to go to the arcade after this?" Yagyū asked, and Hibari nodded emphatically. "It ... has a crane machine I think you will enjoy." That made her eyes light up, and Yagyū could only imagine the faces she was likely to make upon seeing how many rabbit plushies the machine had inside. She almost wanted to ask her if she might like to go dancing, too, but ... not yet. Yagyū needed to gather up more courage before considering that. But she liked the idea, and it made her face warm. Perhaps so warm that Hibari could notice.

"Was the dumpling that good?" Yagyū nodded and left it at that, though a small corner of her brain wondered if a kiss from Hibari would have the same taste ....
