Summary: A gift from a Wilderelf can sometimes be sweet.

Taleenya smirked a little as she sat on the stump of a Vallen wood watching the Kender. The young girl was still fiddling with the puzzle box that the Elf had tossed to her. There was a running bet that it would take the Kender at least fifteen minutes to open the locked trinket box.

The others of the party were scattered around using the time that their expert thief was thus occupied to finish packing up the camp site.

Kera Keyfinder turned the box over in her hands again, looking at the intricately carved box in her hand carefully. She glanced at the Wood Elf as she sat amused, as if to ask how much time was left.

“Three minutes Kera.” Was the reply. Small childlike hands flew over the box and within a few moments it was open, the trinket, a ring woven of thin strands of metal fell to the Kender’s hand. Taleenya had gotten the ring for her and thought that this would be a fun way of gifting the Kender. It was magicked so that it could create pretty lights when the Kender was trapped somewhere, the idea had been so that they could find her if needed.

In reality it was just so that the Kender could annoy the other members of their party.

“Oh! What’s this do?” Kera asked as she looked at the delicate ring.

“You’ll have to figure that out Kera. Come on, we better get packed up or the others will leave us behind. I’d rather not stay another night in this wood, smells of Draconian.” The elf stood, picking up her bag. All that was left for her to do was to refill her water skins.

“She got it open under the time?” This was from their leader, a human named Silver. Taleenya was pretty sure it wasn’t his real name, but he wasn’t that bad of a boss, and he kept the group out of trouble most of the time, so she didn’t ask.

“Twelve minutes. You owe me five copper.”

“Told you the puzzle box wouldn’t stay locked long.”

“You couldn’t even open it in an hour Lance.”
