Minister Vitari considers Londo’s arrival on Centauri Prime with a Narn in tow little more than a joke, but then Vitari has always considered himself cleverer than he really is. He’s ambitious, jealous perhaps, vindictive certainly, and Londo doesn’t trust him as far as G’kar could throw him, which makes it all the more fortunate that G’Kar is there not as a figure of fun, entertainment for the Centauri Royal Court, but as Londo’s bodyguard.

Yes, he is perhaps an odd choice for the role, but Delenn was right that it would send a powerful message. That message just doesn’t appear to have reached Centauri Prime yet. Well, no matter; they’re here now, and all confusion is easily cleared up. More than that, G’Kar ably proves that he is not any kind of joke, and neither is he the dangerous savage Centauri nobles believe him to be. In many ways, he’s more civilised than many members of the Royal Court.

As for Londo, he is glad to have G’Kar covering his back and guarding his door. For the first time, he finds the atmosphere in the Royal Palace… threatening. He trusts G’Kar far more than any Centauri. That’s the joke.
