Summary: Tony gets in trouble


Below him Tony can see a glittering ribbon stretching out to infinity, or that is what it looks like so high up. Sparks flood his vision and Tony knows he's in trouble. This was supposed to be a test flight, a chance to iron out (no pun intended) any bugs in his new design. It is rapidly becoming clear that he had drastically underestimated quite how buggy the whole thing was.

Tony looks down again. The ribbon below him is the Hudson River although privately he's always preferred the name the Lanape gave it -Muhheakantuck. In theory, and with everything else remaining equal, he should be able to follow it home. Just in case that doesn't work he intends asking for backup.

"JARVIS?"

There's nothing. Not even a burst of static.

"Fuck!"

"Mind your language, Mr Stark."

"Peter? What are you doing here?' Tony claws away the faceplate so he can see more clearly. Peter is soaring along next to him, clad in the new Iron Spider Armor that Tony had been working on just last night.

"This is great." Peter whoops with joy and twists in the air. "And what I'm doing, sir, is saving your ass."

"Now who needs to mind their language!" But Tony can't keep the grin off his face. Peter has that effect on him.

The grin is short lived however as a gust of wind catches Tony, tumbling him sideways. "Suit's about to fail," Tony mumbles.

His fall however doesn't last long. Peter has wrapped him in a cocoon of silk.

"We need to go down." Tony points towards the river, closer now than it was previously. He isn't sure how much weight Peter's suit will bear and he can't say he wants to find out the hard way.

"You're sure?"

He can hear the pout in Peter's voice even though he can't see the kid's face.

"Yes."

"Fine." Peter obediently alters his trajectory and Tony makes a mental note to thank Peter properly once they make it back to civilisation.
