Judas.

No matter which way Garibaldi looked at it, that was what he was. He’s betrayed the people he’d worked with, his colleagues and friends, betrayed his captain, betrayed his new employer, betrayed Lise, betrayed earth, betrayed himself and everything he’d stood for, everything he’d worked so hard to build…

It didn’t matter that none of it had been entirely his own idea, didn’t even matter that Bester had been behind most of what he’d done over the past few months, because while Bester might have been pulling his strings from behind the scenes, Garibaldi was the one who’d acted.

He’d resigned as head of security, accepted the job William Edgars had offered him, dug himself in deep with Edgars Industries, learned exactly what the old man was up to, and been perfectly willing to go along with it. Worst of all, he’d had Sheridan’s dad picked up, then arranged to have Sheridan himself taken prisoner by Clark’s people. And now that he knew the truth about everything, now that Bester had given him back his memories…

It sickened him. How could he live with what he’d done? He had to make amends, put things right somehow, but nobody was going to listen to him, none of his former friends would trust anything he said, and he didn’t blame them. Hell, HE wouldn’t trust himself. He had to try though; he couldn’t just walk away. He had nowhere to go anyway.

So what now? Somehow, he’d have to rescue Sheridan, even if he had to do it all by himself. He had to, because if he didn’t, it would mean Bester had won, had taken everything he held dear and ripped it into shreds.

Garibaldi wasn’t the kind of man to simply lie down and give up.

This wasn’t over.

The End
