Spike whipped his head around when the crypt door creaked open, but eased back into the armchair when he saw the intruder. “You shouldn’t be here, Nibblet. Big sis doesn’t want us to hang out.”
Dawn walked up to him, gingerly. “She’s waiting outside. I wanted to thank you for…” she tapered off, looking at his state. “Wow. That’s a nasty collection of bruises,” she murmured.
He scoffed, grinning. “I’ve had it worse, Bit. Wasn’t gonna let that hellbitch get you. Besides, I got quick healing perks.”
Dawn sighed dejectedly. “It won’t matter in the end. Glory’s gonna get me.”
