This was it. They’d made the long and often perilous journey across the island, from the west coast to the east, and finally, after months of gruelling travel and fantastic adventures, there it was: Evoland. It was a little difficult to believe it was really over, that the friendship that had grown between the five of them over the long months of having no one but each other to rely on, was coming to an end, that soon they’d have to part and go their separate ways… But that had always been their goal.

Soon, Scott and Fred would be back in 1977, Jonathan in 1963, Liana back on her mother’s planet, and Varian back in 2230. One they stepped into the portal, they would never see each other again, and as much as they all longed to return to their respective homes, saying goodbye was going to be hard.

But the goodbyes didn’t have to happen quite yet. They had one more night ahead of them, waiting here for the gates to open at dawn and let them approach the portal itself.

Tonight, they wouldn’t sleep; instead they’d celebrate and be happy. There’d be time enough for sadness tomorrow.
