Hua Yong thinks about wrenching that bastard’s arm off, but gets distracted by Sheng Shaoyou’s pale face, and his path to the fleeing Sheng Shaoqing is obstructed by the masked lackeys.

(Hua Yong thinks about how satisfying it would be to pull his arm off. The wet fleshy sound. The crack of splintering bone. He’s wearing his own blood on his neck, and the red is a little one-note. A complementary shade would add a lot of depth.)

Sheng Shaoyou will be fine. He’s marked, after all, and drugged wine is nothing. Hua Yong peels off his patch.
