Buffy stepped quietly down the stairs, expecting to find Spike resting on his cot; instead, she found him standing under a leaky pipe, rusted wrench in hand.
“Oh boy. I’m not even done paying off the full copper repipe from last year,” she said, arms crossed. “I really can’t afford another plumbing disaster right now.”
Spike turned around, winking. “Disaster already averted, luv. One rebellious joint came a tad loose, but I gave it a stern talking-to.”
Buffy watched him drop the wrench into the toolbox and smiled. “Well, thank you for the quick fix, then.”
“Don’t mention it, pet.”
