My friends tell me that it’s understandable, really
The daffodils of your excuses tended lovingly by others
Blooms extending well past first blush
To slide like vines across the windows

The garden is invisible to me, green grown thick
Like the forest for the trees, I try to say
Your hands are gone, but others
Graciously lay fertilizer for the lies

You didn't really mean it, they say
And I have no more life to breathe
