Author notes: The title is from ALWAYS, I'VE LOVED BIG CARS by Phillip Zhuwao, and Boy with the Red Piano by Louis Armand. It was inspired by CARRYING SOMEONE ELSE’S INFANT PAST A COW IN A FIELD NEAR MARMORA, ONT. by Ken Babstock.
Summary: Everything comes around the same again, even if it’s different. (A contemporary setting poke at Anne & Diana.)

Anne with an E, who isn’t named after that famous character but instead her mother’s favourite Japanese actor, walks out to the middle of the field, skirting cow pies and the cows themselves, their languid tails flapping away flies, and stops right in front of her best friend, whose name Diana isn’t from a book or the goddess but instead that beloved princess, dead over a decade, and says—

“Yes,” Diana interrupts, glancing up from where she’s perched on a stump and sketching.

“What—?”

“You finally riddled it out?” Diana interrupts again, laughing at Anne’s bemusement. “Yes, I like you.”
